The Asociación Civil Reserva Ecológica Chontachaka works to preserve the forest. Your land gift is made in cooperation with this organization. This means you won’t have any additional maintenance responsibilities or ongoing property costs.

Another day in the rainforest?
For excursions in Manu National Park, check with the park administration and authorized tour operators. Chontachaka is located in the buffer zone of the Manu region; a land grant does not replace a national park reservation.
Plan a visit to Manu →Distances are rounded as the crow flies from the property coordinates to the Plaza Mayor in Cusco, to Machu Picchu, and to the Miraflores waterfront in Lima. Mountains and road routes make the actual distances significantly longer. These are not driving distances or travel times.

Cusco is a possible starting point for Chontachaka. The journey continues to the Manu region. Plan your travel arrangements, access, suitable tours, and accommodations directly with the reserve—the mountain and rainforest trails require their own itinerary.
- Coordinate in advance: Clarify the date, travel arrangements, itineraries, and activities with the Chontachaka team.
- Recommended gear: sturdy shoes or suitable rubber boots (as agreed upon), lightweight long-sleeved clothing, rain gear, drinking water, and a protective case for your camera or cell phone.
- Accommodations: One night in a tent is generally included in the Landgeschenk package. Please coordinate the suitable location and conditions on the reserve in advance. The lodge is an alternative that must be booked separately.
- Your pace: Allow plenty of time for the journey and for little discoveries along the way. In the rainforest, let your curiosity set the pace.

Will I have to pay any additional costs later on?
No. Pay once, enjoy it for a long time: There are no ongoing property costs or annual payments for your land gift. We also cover the property tax. You are responsible for your own travel expenses and equipment. Separately booked lodge stays or guided tours are considered separate travel services.
Do I have to deal with taxes, administrative matters, or government agencies?
No—we'll handle all the paperwork for the property. HappyLandGifts remains the owner and takes care of management as well as all legal and regulatory obligations associated with ownership. You can focus on looking forward to it.
What actually belongs to me—and what am I allowed to use?
Your personal share is assigned to you. You are granted the right to enter and use the entire property. Ownership of the property remains with HappyLandGifts; you do not become the owner through the land gift.
How long do my rights to the land last?
Your rights to the land are valid indefinitely. So your piece of rainforest in Peru has no built-in expiration date.
What am I allowed to do there?
Explore the rainforest, spend time outdoors, and, if everyone agrees, spend the night in a tent. For trails and activities within the reserve, check with the team to confirm local conditions. Nature remains as it is: no buildings, tree cutting, planting, or open campfires. Take your trash with you when you leave. And your memories, too.
Is the property a public park?
No. The property is private and reserved for use by HappyLandGifts landowners.
Can I transfer or bequeath my Landgeschenk?
That's not possible at this time. We're working on a solution for the transfer.
Where exactly is my piece of rainforest in Peru?
In the Chontachaka Ecological Reserve in the Kosñipata Valley, in Peru’s Manu Region. Above, you’ll find a map and coordinates. Click on “Plan Route,” enter your starting point—your GPS will take care of the rest. You choose the soundtrack.
Can I stay overnight on the property?
Yes, a night in a tent is included in the HappyLandGifts package. Please coordinate your visit, a suitable spot, and the conditions at the reserve with the team in advance. The lodge is an alternative that must be booked separately; please check availability and prices directly with the provider.
How much is my personal share?
The 10,000 m² is the total area of the property. You can find the size of your personal share on your certificate or in your offer. The map shows the property’s location; individual land grants are not marked separately on it.
What should I pack in my backpack?
Water, sturdy shoes, protection from wind and rain, and clothing appropriate for the season. If you're spending the night outdoors, be sure to bring suitable sleeping gear. Snacks are also a pretty good idea. Check the weather one more time before you leave.
What is the purpose of the land registry—and how do I register?
Once you register using your name and email address, your land ownership will be activated and documented. Have your certificate ready, open the registration form, and fill in the information—and just like that, your piece of rainforest in Peru will be listed in our land registry.
